

Hydrology and the Hydrologic
cycle:
Students will survey the different
facets of the hydrologic cycle, and explore how each mechanism works within the unique
structure of the Earth.
Oceans of the Earth:
This area of the curriculum has students analyzing the chemical composition of the
oceans, different salinity factors, depth, shore, and life zones.
Ocean floor topography:
In this section of study, students will
become familiar with different types of ocean floor structures like, island arcs, rifts,
ridges, guyots, and so on.
Wave motion:
Students will explore wave movements both
cause and effect, ocean currents, and the driving mechanisms to global oceanic currents.
Ocean ecology:
This section looks at a multitude of
ecological factors effecting the Earth's oceans like pollution, red tides, Etc...
Glaciers:
Students will study Glaciers, glacial
action/effect, types of glaciers, glacial landforms, glacial landforms in Maine, and
surface runoff.
Freshwater:
Students will examine concepts of
groundwater, the groundwater table, aquifers, watersheds, and water quality.
